Cleaning Water Tanks Plastic

Start by wiping off any large debris inside and outside the water tanks plastic with a dry rag. Then wet the inside and outside with water. Using a garden hose will make the job easier. With a non-abrasive cloth or rack, wipe any stains, grime or dirt that is stuck to the surface of the plastic tank. Next, with a mild detergent and the non-abrasive cloth, scrub the plastic tank well. Pay special attention to areas that are visibly dirty or stained. If the mild detergent cannot do the job, turn to a vinyl cleaner. Apply a small amount to the tank and scrub this area with your non-abrasive cloth. Get your garden hose and rinse the tank. Make sure to wash the tank well to remove any traces of the mild detergent or vinyl cleaner. With a dry non-abrasive cloth, wipe the tank well.

Repairing Water Tanks Plastic

Make sure the tank is empty. In case there are ragged areas in and around the location of the rupture or tear, use a pocket knife to remove these ragged parts. Get a fiberglass patch and cut a section that will be enough to cover the tear with an extra margin of at least 1 – 2 inches. Wear your work gloves. On a cardboard sheet, mix a small batch of epoxy resin using a wooden stick. Spread a good amount of the resin around the tear. Place the patch on the tear. Apply additional resin on the patch. Make sure the seams are covered with resin. Let the resin dry for 24 hours before re-using the plastic tank.

Water tanks plastic are reusable. They come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. Clean your water tanks plastic often. And, if there are tears, repair them as soon as possible. With care, your water tanks plastic should last a long time.
